Like other international standards, ISO 50001 is based on the Continuous Improvement Plan (PDCA) or Deming Cycle:
PLAN: During this phase, the organization will carry out the study and analysis of its energy situation, assess the effectiveness of the measures taken previously and plan new actions for the continuous improvement of the energy performance of the organization.
IMPLEMENT (Do): In the next phase the organization launches the planned actions in the previous phase. During this stage, the necessary training of the personnel, the operational control of the processes and the acquisition of services, products, equipment and energy are also included.
REVIEW: the implementation of the SGE requires monitoring and review of the controls and measures implemented. It is therefore essential to carry out both internal and external audits that review the effectiveness of the SGE, as well as the verification of the parameters and indicators of control of the efficiency of the system.
ACT: The implementation of an SGE requires to act, maintain and constantly improve the energy performance of the company. Once the system has been reviewed, in the face of the detection of Non-conformities or deviations, the company acts to correct the system continuously improving the processes of the SGE.
